Liver disease is the term used to describe damage to the liver and there are two types.
- Acute is when liver problems develop over a few months
- Chronic is damage over a number of years.
It is such a shame many of us will spend years abusing our liver without realising it.
One of the best known causes is alcohol abuse, but those with a history of fatty liver disease may also be at risk.
Early symptoms of liver damage can include:
- Extreme tiredness
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Abdominal pains
- Diarrhoea
When liver damage has moved on to the next level you will certainly be aware of the symptoms which can include:
- Jaundice / yellow looking skin
- Extreme tiredness / fatigue
- Loss of appetite and general weakness
- Itching
- Bruising easily
- Legs, ankle or abdomen swelling
- Vomiting blood
- Loss of appetitez
- Increased sensitivity to alcohol and drugs
