30th April 2014
The 30th of April, 2014 saw the official opening of the Eastbourne DGH Endoscopy unit by the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex. More than 100 people from the local community attended the opening and guided tours of the unit that took place all afternoon. The Unit has up to 3 treatment rooms and dedicated male and female recovery spaces and is able to
accommodate diagnostic and advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures. It was through the investment in the department by the Trust and a generous donation of £260,000 by the Friends of Eastbourne Hospital that the completion of this unit was achieved. It will provide the residents of Eastbourne and East Sussex with a modern fully equipped facility.
Dr Phil Mayhead, Consultant Gastroenterologist who spoke on behalf of the Endoscopy Unit, said “It was a great pleasure to give the speech on behalf of the Endoscopy team who have worked so hard to make the unit work well. We are delighted that so many people came to view the new unit today as we are very proud of our new department.”
